 I. Objectives  
  1. 人才培养目标
  1. Objectives
  Students are nurtured to be both physically and psychologically healthy. They are expected to have a wholesome personality, a value for humanistic pursuits, and a sense of social responsibility, as well as the ability to think critically and innovatively, good writing and communication skills, an orientation towards life-long learning, and a proficiency in organization and management. Moreover, they should have an international mindset and be able to work well in a team context.
   (2) Major-specific Objectives
To master modern science and technology as the core theory, students in this major are nurtured to have the soild theoretical foundations and basic skills of biology, understand the developments of modern life science and technology, train well on the aspects of modern biology research methods, experimental techniques and scientific thinking, etc. They are expected to be engaged in scientific research, technology development, as well as teaching and management in the field of life sciences. By paying more attention to the cultivation of quality of scientific research and innovative ability, they are expected to become the academic or technical leaders in the field of life sciences.

  2. 毕业生应掌握的基本知识
  2. Graduates are required to acquire
   (1) Basic knowledge
   A1 掌握历史、哲学、文学、艺术等领域的基本知识,具有正确的历史观、世界观、人生观、价值观和审美观;
   A1 To equip students with basic knowledge of the arts and humanities, which includes history, philosophy, literature and art; to train students to understand different perspectives of history, the world, life, values and aesthetics.
   A2 掌握社会科学的基本知识,具有人文情怀和社会责任感;
   A2 To equip students with basic research skills, a value for culture and society, and an understanding of social responsibilities. 
   A3 掌握数学、物理、化学基础知识和基本实验技能;
   A3 To train students in basic mathematics, physics and chemistry, as well as basic experimental skills.
   A4 To enable students to use modern information technologies regarding the modern networks and information processing. 
   A5 To provide students with a basic understanding of the natural world, economics, civilization, sociology, etc.
   (2) Major-specific knowledge required for graduates includes
   A6 具备扎实的植物学、动物学、微生物学、生物化学、遗传学、细胞生物学、分子生物学等生物学基础课程的基础理论和基本知识;
   A6 To have a solid basic theory and basic knowledge of biology-based courses, including botany, zoology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, etc. 
   A7 To master the basic theories, technologies and developments of biological sciences and the related branches.
   A8 To master the knowledge and technology of modern biological science on the basic research, applied research and technology development and other aspects.
   A9 To understand the developments and prospects of modern life science and technology.
   A10 To master the basic knowledge of biology intellectual property rights, biosafety and related policies and regulations.

 3. Graduates are required to have:

   (2) Major-specific abilities required for graduates include:
   B6 具备扎实的生物学基本实验技能; 
   B6 To have a solid basic experimental biology skills.
   B7 To have the ability to isolate and purify the nucleic acids, proteins and other biological macromolecules, as well as their detecting analysis and genetic operation by using modern technology.
   B8 具备生物学实验设计、论文写作和学术交流的能力;
   B8 To have the ability for biological experiment design, writing papers and academic exchanges. 
   B9 To have the ability for data inquiry, literature search and data analysis by using of modern information technology.
   B10 To have the ability for reading professional literatures and writing papers in English, as well as the international exchanges, competition and cooperation.
   B11 To have the ability for further studies and master's degree in the field of biology, as well life-long learning ability. 
   B12 To have the ability for scientific research, technology development, as well as biology teaching and management by using the learned knowledge and skills.

 4. Qualities graduates should have

   C5 To set up the professional thinking firmly and determined to explore life sciences. 
   C6 To have sound professional knowledge structure and the higher level of expertise and skills.
   C7 To have professional visionary, grasp the development of frontier discipline, as well as the courage to forge ahead.
   C8 To have a good awareness of professional collaboration, interdisciplinary and teamwork, as well as broad international perspective.

II. Basic Requirements
   Students in this major mainly learn and master the basic mathematics, physics and chemistry, the basic theory and basic knowledge and skills of biological science, as well as understand the frontier progress of modern life sciences. After the systematic training of scientific thinking and practical skills on basic research, applied basic research and technology development and other aspects, they have a good human ethics, scientific quality and international perspective, as well as the basic ability to carry out biology teaching, research, development and management.
   The graduates should acquire the following knowledge and abilities:

   3. 掌握植物学、动物学、微生物学、生物化学、遗传学、细胞生物学、分子生物学及相关分支学科的基本理论、基本知识和实验技能;
   3. Master the basic theory, knowledge and practical skills on botany, zoology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, molecular biology and related branches. 
   4. Familiar with the national intellectual property and other relevant policies and regulations.
   6. Understanding the theoretical frontiers and applied prospects of biological sciences, as well as the developments of modern life sciences.
   7. Have the certain ability for experimental design, scientific research, writing papers and academic exchanges.
   8. Master a foreign language and be able to read professional literature; have an international perspective and preliminary ability for academic exchanges, competition and collaboration.

   IX. Graduation Requirements
   毕业额定学分:160学分(课内)+ 8学分(课外)。
   Minimum credits for graduation: 160 credits (curricular) + 8 credits (extracurricular).
   Curricular: xx credits for compulsory courses, xx for elective courses, and xx for hands-on experience.
   Extracurricular: 8 credits for innovation and skill development.
   Minimum credits are required for graduation.
